Beth > I chose to travel to Zvinagorodka, the small town where Amy and I spent the first night of Pesach, because it was only a 45 minute drive away from Talnoye, the town where my grandfather was born. This beautiful mural was near the entrance to the town. The first two lines say "Talne (Talnoye) - My village!"
Beth > Papa Misha left Talnoye when he was six years old to come to America with his parents. 80 years later, here I am.
Beth > The Jewish community in Zvinagorodka arranged for a woman named Valentina, one of the only Jews still living in Talnoye, to be my tour guide. The first place she took us was the neighborhood where the Jewish community used to live. This is the house where the rabbi would have lived.
