Beth > Recognizing that the subtleties of "Choice Through Knowledge" might be a little over the heads of his commanders in the Israeli army, Frommer decided to keep up the illusion that he is orthodox by growing a beard for the omer. We took photographs (on Shabbat, no less) to document his beard's progress. You can tell from his face how much he likes growing beards *and* taking mugshots.
Beth > Dina tries to convince Frommer that sniffing this oil is a good idea. I think it was super-strong mint that woke you up if you were tired.
Beth > Anat enjoying Frommer's shuk challah.
Beth > 14 Days and counting!
Beth > Yom Ha Zikaron (Israeli Memorial Day) at the Rechavia Gymnasium High School. One of the walls in memory of former students who lost their lives.
Beth > Yom Ha Zikaron (Israeli Memorial Day) at the Rechavia Gymnasium High School. The soldiers are recent alumni who are in the army now and came back to commemorate the day with their school. Older alumni also come back.
Beth > Yom Ha Zicharon (Israeli Memorial Day) at the Rechavia Gymnasium High School. These students sang in between speeches and the reading of names.

Beth > For Yom Ha'atzmaut (Israeli Independence Day), I rented a car, and Judy, Rebecca, Jordie and I drove up to Haifa to go see an Idan Reichel concert. But sadly, when we got there, the theater was closed for the night . . . we found out later that the concert had been cancelled . . . apparently in Israel they don't call to tell you when these things happen. Luckily, a very nice woman working at a nearby convenience store clued us into two free Yom Ha'atzmaut concerts in nearby suburbs. Here we are in Kiryat Chayim.
